Phytophthora sansomeana, an Emerging Threat to Soybean Production

نویسندگان

چکیده

In 1990, new Phytophthora strains, later recognized as a species, sansomeana, were found to cause root rot (PRR) in soybean addition P. sojae. The emergence and spread of second pathogen causing PRR poses significant threat production. While genetic resistance sojae has been developed widely deployed management tool, these varieties appear largely ineffective at controlling which broad host-range can infect survive on non-leguminous hosts including fir trees, Rosaceous fruit maize, several herbaceous weeds. This contributes potential for distributions worldwide across both agricultural natural ecosystems. Despite having studied since the 1980s under variety informal designations, little is known about epidemiology, host-interactions, this emergent pathogen. Due lack options, increased frequency first reports geographic areas, overall limited body knowledge surrounding novel pathogen, sansomeana warrants more research attention from biological disease perspectives. aim review summarize hosts, distribution, pathogenicity, current strategies provide concise record where it other designations. Its role emphasized due economic magnitude PRR-associated losses its well-documented aggressiveness

A Threat to U.S. Soybean Production

Bean pod mottle virus (BPMV) is widespread in the major soybean-growing areas in the southern and southeastern United States. A severe outbreak of BPMV in the north central and northern Great Plains states is currently causing serious concern to soybean growers and to the soybean industry in this region (30). BPMV is efficiently transmitted in nature, within and between soybean fields, by sever...

Scrub Typhus: An Emerging Threat

Scrub typhus is caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi (formerly Rickettsia) and is transmitted to humans by an arthropod vector of the Trombiculidae family (Leptotrombidium deliense and L. akamushi). It is the most common re-emerging Rickettsial infection in India and many other South East Asian countries. In fact, scrub typhus is confined geographically to the Asia Pacific region, a billion people ...

Zika – an Emerging Global Threat

Zika virus disease (Zika) is a new emerging mosquito borne illness, transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito especially Aedes aegypti. The infection, known as Zika fever often causes no or only mild symptoms which include fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis, which may last up to a week [1]. The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) confirmed the first Zika virus infection in Br...
